
Established in Agano City, known for the beautiful swan lake of Hyoko, Hakuryu Brewery has been crafting sake for over 160 years. Utilizing Niigata's premium rice, abundant water, and cold winters, the brewery is dedicated to maintaining the traditional skills of Echigo Toji master brewers while blending old techniques with modern technology. The Shirai family began producing sake in 1839, naming their business “Hakuryu, ” meaning White Dragon, as a nod to their transportation roots and the mythical guardian of marine transport.
